Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction has completed work on the second phase of a large, award-winning development project in Padiham.
The Perseverance Mill site was formerly a derelict Mill building on Albion Street, which sat empty for more than 15 years, creating issues for local residents due to attracting fly tipping and anti-social behaviour.
Ring Stones worked on the first phase of the build, in partnership with Calico Homes, completing in 2018 to provide 56 much-needed affordable family homes to the area.
The development won the Regeneration award at the RICS Awards North West in 2019 for blending the new homes with existing heritage and reopening the nearby culvert which had previously been concealed for decades beneath the mill building.
The completion of the second phase, costing £1.3m has created 9x 1-bed and 1x 2 bed modern, self-contained apartments with onsite parking, and reinstated 1x 2-bed house that was amalgamated into the existing building.
The homes showcase original external features retained during the build, to acknowledge the former heritage of the site.
The build has also created 20 employment, 2 Kickstarter and 5 apprenticeship opportunities for local workers, to provide Ring Stones with support in areas such as joinery, labour, flooring, painting, service work and site management.
Handing over to Calico Homes on 9th Sept 2021, Ring Stones continue to deliver further regeneration across Burnley and Padiham, improving the standard of housing in the wider community and neighbourhoods.
