Ring Stones has completed the final phase of a £10m affordable housing development in Padiham.
Phase Three of the Station Road development began in August 2019 and was finalised at the end of March 2021, marking the completion of the wider project as they handed the homes over to Calico Homes.
This last phase has provided an additional 26 general needs affordable homes, consisting of 1x 3 bed house, 3x 2 bed houses, 11x 1 bed ground floor cottage flats and 11x 2 bed first floor cottage flats.
The project continued throughout lockdown and the team have worked hard to overcome the barriers faced. Health and safety has been paramount and additional measures have continuously been in place, such as COVID-specific risk assessments, one-way systems, dedicated working zones, extra wash stations and increased cleaning regimes.
It also created 9 new apprenticeship opportunities in various areas, such as joinery, bricklaying, electrical and painting, giving young people the opportunity to learn and develop their skills.
The Station Road development began in 2018 and was welcomed by local residents who were keen to see the formerly derelict land put to good use. This replaced a well-known eyesore in Padiham, bringing a mix of much-needed houses, bungalows, and apartments to the area.
James Macaree, Managing Director at Ring Stones, says, “It’s great to see the final stages of the Station Road development complete. For almost three years, our teams have worked hard on this project, while making sure safety is a top priority. This development has created much-needed affordable housing in the area and I’m looking forward to see the neighbourhood continue to thrive.”
